On the heals of yesterday's teaser release (if you want to call it that - it's a 15-second snippet), the he full-length version has now arrived. Oliver Stone's latest feature, "Savages", is about a a pair of American drug dealers who face off in a war with the Mexican drug cartel after they kidnap their girlfriend. The film has a great looking cast, including Emile Hirsch, Blake Lively, Benicio Del Toro, Aaron Johnson, Uma Thurman, Salma Hayek, John Travolta, Taylor Kitsch, and Demián Bichir.
If it wasn't for this trailer, which you can check out after the break, I probably wouldn't think much for this film (other than the fact that it has a great cast). While I've enjoyed films revolving around the drug scene, generally they're not my cup of tea. But I'll say now my interest is at least piqued.
I think the trailer actually looks pretty cool - and "cool" I think is a good word to use here. It looks sexy and vibrant and overly saturated. I'm still not completely convinced that this will be a must-see for me yet, but it's at least on the radar now, when it wasn't before. I'll wait until I see/hear more from this, but Stone's direction looks to be sharp, and if nothing else, it should at least provide a pretty good punch.
What do you guys think? Any interest in this one?
