"Leprechaun" Reboot Coming in 2013

For everyone who has been thinking 'gosh, you know what Hollywood has been missing - another “Leprechaun” film'; have no fear, your wait is almost over!

Variety is reporting that Lionsgate plans to team up with WWE Studios and reboot the 90’s horror series starring everyone’s favorite killer leprechaun. And while no director, cast, or writers have been announced yet, I have one person in mind who I would love to see take on the lead role: Peter Dinklage.

At this point, it really shouldn’t surprise me when any film gets a remake or reboot, but I didn’t expect this one. While I can’t picture myself getting too excited for this, at least we’re getting something other than one more “found footage” film.

Lionsgate is aiming for a 2013 release.

  1. I can't imagine that Peter Dinklage will go anywhere near this movie... Good thought though, but my guess is we'll get a no-name here.

  2. It's not like there are a ton of films for him to choose from, where a midget is the lead role. Has he become to big "pun intended" to play the leprechaun.

    1. I mean he's getting nominated for and winning awards and stuff.

    2. I know that but still, when an opportunity comes for someone in his little shoes to headline a movie or possibly a franchise, I don't think they could, or should pass it up. If they stick to what made the first series popular(ish), then I think he should do it. Plus, the awards and nominations your talking about are for "Game of Thrones". I'm gonna assume you haven't watched any of the show, but I've seen every episode, and his role is largely comedic relief, so its not like he is getting nominated for any serious stuff he does. "Leprechaun" would be right up his alley. For some reason, I'm wanting to turn this into a bet now. Any interest on your part? I bet he takes the role; you bet anyone else gets it. Seems fair enough right? We just need stakes.

    3. You seriously want to make that bet? Peter Dinklage against the field? You better believe I'm interested!

      What should the stakes be?

    4. Hahaha yeah, why not. It'll be a fun little thing to look forward to. But for the stakes? I don't want to do money, that's just boring. The first thing that came to mind was a slap bet, but I feel like that would just make the loser avoid ever going within the same state of the winner. I was thinking the loser should just have to do something embarrassing, or something that's way out of their comfort level. Any ideas on your end?

    5. Well I think it should probably be something that can (has to) be showcased on the blog. I don't know exactly where to build from that because anything movie-related isn't going to be too much punishment for either of us, not matter what it's involving.

Thoughts on where to expand from there though?

    6. Yeah my thoughts exactly, definitely something that needs to be posted on here. But I don't know where to start idea wise. I'm sure we have some time to figure it out. But at least we are in agreement that the bet is happening and what it entails: Peter Dinklage vs. The Field.

  3. Did you see that the wrestler Hornswoggle (whoever that is) is going to be the new Leprechaun? Too bad we didn't go through with this bet in any way...
